Director and actor Michele Placido has confirmed his participation in the II International Motivational Film Festival BRIDGE of ARTS to be hold in Rostov-on-Don and the cities of the Rostov region on August 24-28, 2016. The Italian cinematographer will present his film La scelta (2015) and run a workshop on directing.
Michele Placido is famous mostly as an actor to the Russian audience. He played the role of a police inspector in TV series La piovra. He was thrice nominated for the David di Donatello, the award of the Academy of Italian Cinema, for Best Actor. He won the Silver Bear award at the Berlin International Film Festival (1979) and the FEDIC award (Federazione Italiana dei Cineclub) at the Venice Film Festival (1998).
Michele Placido's directorial debut became the film Pummarò. The drama La scelta that is to be shown at BRIDGE of ARTS is his fourteenth work as a director. He also wrote a script to this film and played one of the leading roles.
“Inspite the fact that our festival is multi-format, all the screening films are united by one theme – motivation. In La scelta it is revealed though true grit and courage shown by the main character when she takes a difficult life decision”, marked BRIDGE of ARTS program director Anastsya Polyakova. Besides his film presentation, Michele Placido will teach festival guests and participants a master-class on directing. The event will take place at the Business forum of film and media content hold during the festival. Also Michele Placido will appear on the Red carpet at the BRIDGE of ARTS opening ceremony.
