On February 5 the DON-MEDIA center has hosted a press-conference dedicated to the start of the Year of Russian cinema in the Rostov region. It is announced that an ambitious program of events associated with the film art promotion will be implemented in 2016, including release and shooting development in the region.
As reported by Alexander Rezvanov, the Minister of Culture of the Rostov region, the event plan was elaborated by the chiefs of the cultural regional institutions, local journalists and the executive group of Rostov department of the Filmmaking Union in cooperation with the representatives of the regional executive authorities and municipalities.
The first event to be held in the Rostov region within the frames of the Year of Russian cinema is the festival “Modern adaptation of Anton Chekhov”. It will take place on February 5 in the theatres of Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog. The audience will be presented with the films shot in various periods based on the works of our great countryman, also the program includes some creative meetings with the prominent directors, screenwriters and actors.
The central event of the Year of Russian cinema in our region will become the II International Motivational Film Festival BRIDGE of ARTS to be held in the cities of the Rostov region on August 24-28. By the way, the Day of Russian cinema will be celebrated at the festival (on August 27).
Later in February the acceptance of applications for participation in a competitive and non-competition programs will start including participation in screening of short films, animated films and films for kids. A new feature of the second BRIDGE of ARTS is a separate program of documentaries about Rostov-on-Don. “If our first, mostly experimental festival was a sensation in Russia, the second one will be better. But we maintain the main principles – combination of cinema, sport and business as well as the openness for the audience. This is going to be our mutual festival”, marked the festival president Oleg Taktarov.
