On Body and Soul directed by Ildikó Enyedi from Hungary is included into non-competition section of the III International Motivational Film and Sport Festival BRIDGE of ARTS. The event organizers inform that the film which won Golden Bear at the 67th Berlin festival will be ranked as an «Event Film» and screened during the forum, 23-27 August.

On Body and Soul became 2017 Berlin festival’s favourite having won Golden Bear statuette, Fipresci and Ecumenical awards. That is the first full-length film of Ildikó Enyedi produced after 18 years of inaction, her last film Simon Magus was screened in 1999. The new film’s original story, direction and screenplay work was performed solely by Ildikó Enyedi.

The critics characterize On Body and Soul as a surreal fairy-tale about love in a modern world. The main character Maria, suffering from social anxiety, starts working at Budapest slaughterhouse. This is where she meets Endre and gets attached to him. He shares her feelings and emotions intensify as the characters realize that they have the same dreams. They meet each other as a deer and a hind in their sleep. Their forest dates are enchanting due to the excellent camera work of Máté Herbai.

– Our world filled with fears and complexes always has a gap that can be filled with love. Though gentle in its nature love is capable of transforming our reality. The film that won Berlin Golden Bear leaves no chances to dispassionate viewing. It will arouse a spectrum of emotions ranging from fear to inspiration and encouragement, - BRIDGE of ARTS program director Elena Larionova stated.

On Body and Soul screening will start in October, 2017 but BRIDGE of ARTS audience will be able to assess the Hungarian filmmaker’s work already in August in Out of Competition program as an «Event Film». The screening is planned to be accompanied by various events. Rostov forum organizers are conducting negotiations with the Berlinale-winning film producers about their participation in the III International Motivational Film and Sport Festival BRIDGE of ARTS.
